Chess Club at St. Bernard School

Congratulations to the St. Bernard Chess Club for their first place at PA State Game/29 Championship!

St. Bernard Chess Club is a great environment for kids to learn and play chess with their friends.  Chess stimulates children’s minds by improving their concentration, ability to visualize, and skill at planning ahead and choosing among different paths.  As a result kids can become more critical thinkers and better problem solvers, which can help them academically in school.  But our number one goal is that kids simply have fun playing chess.

Chess Club is open to children in grades 1 through 8.  It meets on Fridays immediately after school.  The Club typically begins early in the school year and runs through March.  A flyer/sign-up sheet is distributed at the beginning of the year.
